ED issues fresh summons to Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut asking him to appear on July 1

Earlier today, the ED granted time to Sanjay Raut to appear before it for questioning after his lawyer said that he had demanded 13-14 days to present the documents in front of the probe agency. “We had filed an application seeking some time to report before ED and it has been granted. We had demanded to provide 13-14 days to present the documents in front of ED,” Raut’s lawyer said.

New Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate issued fresh summons to Sanjay Raut asking him to appear before it for questioning in connection with the money laundering case on July 1.
ED had summoned Raut to appear before the ED investigators at its regional office in Mumbai at 11 am. The summons was issued in connection with the re-development of Mumbai’s Patra Chawl.
However, amid the political crisis in Maharashtra, Raut had refused to appear before the ED.
In April this year, the ED had attached immovable properties worth Rs 11.15 crore, including a flat at Dadar, held by Sanjay Raut’s wife Varsha and eight land parcels at Kihim near Alibag, jointly held by the latter with Swapna Patkar, in connection with the redevelopment scam. Swapna is the wife of Sujit Patkar, a close associate of the Sena leader.
Earlier, Sanjay Raut had termed the ED’s summons issued to him as a “conspiracy” to stop him from fighting against their political opponents and said he will not be able to appear before the agency on Tuesday as he has to attend a meeting in Alibaug.
Raut, who is the Shiv Sena’s chief spokesperson, also said that even if he is killed, he will not resort to the “Guwahati route” taken by rebel MLAs from Maharashtra.
Raut in a tweet said, “I just came to know that the ED has summoned me. Good! There are big political developments in Maharashtra. We, Balasaheb’s Shivsainiks are fighting a big battle. This is a conspiracy to stop me. Even if you behead me, I won’t take the Guwahati route.”
Arrest me! Jai Hind, he added.
