Ukrainian astronomers claim UFOs observed hovering over Kyiv

Astronomers have observed Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs) visiting the Ukrainian airspace, claims a report published by the Main Astronomical Observatory of the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) of Ukraine. The new study explains how they spotted fast-moving, low visibility objects—UFOs classified as "Cosmics" and "Phantoms" at observatories in Kyiv and Vinarivka.

Ukraine UFO sightings: Wild new claim by astronomers watching Kyiv sky

Astronomers in Ukraine have observed Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs) visiting Kyiv airspace, claims a report published by the Main Astronomical Observatory of the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) of Ukraine.
They spotted dozens of fast-moving, low-visibility objects “that cannot scientifically be identified as known natural phenomena”, using specialised cameras at two weather stations in Kyiv and Vinarivka, according to the new paper titled Unidentified aerial phenomena I. Observations of events — which is yet to be peer-reviewed.
"We see them everywhere. We observe a significant number of objects whose nature is not clear," Ukrainian astronomers said. "Flights of single, group and squadrons of the ships were detected, moving at speeds from 3 to 15 degrees per second."
While the study focuses primarily on the steps taken by the scientists to observe these unidentified aerial phenomena, shortened as UAP, a US intelligence agency has cited Russia’s ongoing war in Ukraine to allude to the use of aircraft and drones, which make a fleeting appearance in the sky before they disappear.
The researchers have attempted to classify their UAP observations into two categories based on luminosity: “Cosmics” and “Phantoms”.
Cosmics are bright objects that outshine the background sky and have been observed flying solo as well as in “squadrons” in contrast to Phantoms, that appear “completely black” - seemingly absorbing all the light hitting them.
Speculations that these UFOs have to do with military technology or foreign surveillance hold up when considered in the context of the ongoing “Russia-Ukraine war”, which is in its seventh month.
That theory is supported by a 2021 intelligence report, which puts some UAP down to "technologies deployed by China, Russia, another nation, or a non-governmental entity” among several other possible explanations, according to LiveScience.
Neither the scientific observations nor the intelligence report seem to point to anything extraterrestrial.
