National Film Awards: Ajay Devgn receives Best Popular Film award for Tanhaji, bags Best Actor

The National Film Awards ceremony took place today. Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn has been honoured with the Best Actor award. He also received the Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment award for his film, Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior.

Over the years, Ajay Devgn has given many amazing performances. His 2020 release, Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior, was loved by the audience. The movie also performed well at the box office. The actor has received the National Film Award in the Best Actor category for the Om Raut directorial.

Not just this, the movie also won the Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment award. The ceremony for the 68th National Film Awards took place today at the Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi. President Droupadi Murmu presented the awards to the recipients.

Ajay was present at the event to receive the awards for his film. For the ceremony, the actor was seen wearing a black pantsuit, paired with a white shirt.

A few photos of the actor from the ceremony were shared by news agency ANI on Twitter. The post read, "68th #NationalFilmAwards | Ajay Devgn receives the National Award for the Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment for his film, ‘Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior’."

Along with Ajay, Suriya also won the Best Actor award for his film Soorarai Pottru. He was also present at the ceremony.

Talking about his big win, the actor said in a statement, "I'm elated to win the Best Actor Award for Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior at the 68th National Awards along with Suriya, who won for Soorarai Pottru. I thank everyone, most of all my creative team, the audience and my fans. I also express my gratitude to my parents & the Almighty for their blessings. Congratulations to all the other winners."

On the movie front, Ajay has some interesting projects coming up. The actor will be soon headlining the movie Thank God, co-starring Sidharth Malhotra. He has also been hogging the limelight for his film Drishyam 2, which has been directed by Abhishek Pathak.
