Nine people, including 8 Bangladeshis held by Delhi police for forging passports & other documents to gain Indian citizenship

New Delhi: In yet another major crackdown, nine people, including eight Bangladeshi nationals, were apprehended by the Delhi Police on Thursday for allegedly making fake passports and other paper works to obtain Indian citizenship.
According to police, the suspects arrived at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport on Wednesday from Seychelles, South Africa, Nepal, and other nearby nations.
According to the police, the main suspect, 52-year-old Debashish Chakraborty, operates a nexus by giving fake visa documents and Indian passports to foreign nationals, The Indian Express reported.
The eight passengers travelling with Chakraborty pretended to be Indian citizens, but an airport security officer discovered their passports were fake, according to the police.
According to a report by The Indian Express, the FIR read, "During scrutiny of their credentials and travel documents, it was found that all the above-mentioned passengers are Bangladeshi nationals and they fraudulently obtained Indian passports by cheating Indian authorities…They fraudulently affixed the departure stamp of Kolkata on their passport."
Chakraborty admitted to his crime and disclosed that he and his associates had been defrauding the authorities for years by buying fake passports for foreign nationals in Kolkata.
According to the police, the accused were arrested for violating the Public Premises (Eviction of Unauthorised Occupants) Act, the Foreigners Act, and sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) dealing with cheating and criminal conspiracy.
