Wipro asks employees to work from office at least 3 days a week amid moonlighting concerns

Wipro had last month fired 300 employees as they were working for competitors while still being on the company’s payroll. Executive chairman Rishad Premji had said that their employment had been terminated for "act of integrity violation". Meanwhile, Wipro employees will be working from the office at least thrice a week starting October 10.

New Delhi: IT company Wipro, which recently terminated the services of 300 employees after they were found moonlighting for a rival firm, has asked its staff to work from the office on at least three days a week starting Monday, October 10.
In an advisory mail sent to its Indian employees, Wipro said the office will not be open on Wednesdays except for employees who work on critical work. “We encourage you to work from office on at least 3 of the 4 days,” the email said.
The IT major contended that this would “help us enjoy the camaraderie and team spirit of connecting in person while maintaining hybrid work flexibility”, according to a copy of the mail reviewed by Economic Times.
Employees in leadership roles to work from office
Wipro said they have “adopted a flexible, hybrid approach in our return to office policy”. “Beginning October 10, employees in leadership roles will return to work from offices in India thrice a week. Offices will be open on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays,” India's third largest IT company told Ecomic Times.
“Our carefully deliberated back-to-office policy is meant to allow employees the flexibility of remote work while ensuring that our teams can access experiences as well as opportunities and build meaningful relationships at work,” it added.

Wipro’s executive chairman Rishad Premji had last month showed a tough stance against moonlighting and termed it as “cheating”. He had said that Wipro has fired 300 employees as they were working for competitors while still being on the company’s payroll.
TCS 3 days/week
Wipro’s rival Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) also recalled employees its back to the office less than a fortnight ago. for 3 days a week. Emphasising that it is time for larger teams to return to the office and that customers are now visiting TCS offices all over the world, the IT company said it is mandatory for all to work from the office at least three days a week.
Senior-level executives have been asked to do so five times a week.
