After losing the assembly, the MVA coalition filed petition in the Supreme Court to hear the case related to suspend 16 Shiv Sena MLAs or hold it the floor test. Until a final judgement is made regarding their disqualification, Shiv Sena chief whip Sunil Prabhu has asked that newly appointed Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and 15 additional rebel MLAs be suspended. In addition, they ask for a court order barring them from doing so "until the ultimate adjudication of the disqualification proceedings against them" from visiting the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly or taking part in any proceedings involving the House.
