Ever since the K-pop girl group Blackpink made its highly anticipated comeback, they have been breaking multiple records as the first female act, setting both the international and domestic charts on fire.
This YG Entertainment band made its comeback after almost two years and made the fans happy. But before anything, let us backtrack a bit! For those who may not know, Blackpink made their much awaited comeback with a new album, Born Pink on Sept 16 along with a music video for the title track, Shut Down.
It has been more than two weeks since the album was out and you will still find it on the charts. Now the latest addition to its achievements comes on Billboard.
A few days ago, precisely last week, Blackpink made history as their second studio album, Born Pink hit No.1 on Billboard’s top 200 albums chart, one of the most popular charts in the US. They became the first K-pop female act to do so.
Now, on Oct 3, the latest announcement is that the album is still going strong on BB 200. It saw a drop of three positions and remained on the chart at No.4. for the week ending October 4. It spent another week in the top 5; it comes as a major achievement in itself.
Blackpink also made history by becoming the first female K-pop act to have two albums spend more than a week in the top 10 of the Billboard 200. Born Pink sold 40,000 equivalent album units in its second week on the chart, as per Luminate (previously MRC Data).
Meanwhile, Blackpink dropped their second full-length album, Born Pink on September 16. On the other hand, they will be embarking on their BORN PINK world tour which will take them across multiple nations starting with Seoul on October 15 and 16.
