Nagpur: Police said that they found the dead body of a young girl who had apparently committed suicide in her own home. Police said that an 18-year-old college student allegedly committed suicide because her parents apparently delayed getting her an iPhone. The deceased girl was a student in the first-year degree course at Raisoni College in Hingna town in the Nagpur district
According to the police the girl was feeling depressed because of her parents' inability to fulfill her wish and she hung herself from the ceiling fan using a Stoll in the bedroom of her house in the Kharbi area of Nagpur city. The incident happened on Friday evening.
In their preliminary investigations the police found that the girl had been asking her parents to buy her an iPhone for quite a long time. They further said that the girl's parents run a 'Griha Udyog' and had promised her that they would buy her an iPhone one day. However, due to various reasons they were not able to buy it for her immediately, Times of India reported.
This however, made the girl feel that her parents did not want to buy her an iPhone, which made her depressed and then she ended up taking this extreme step.
The police recorded the statements of both the parents of the deceased girl and have registered a case of accidental death.
However, the police said that they are also investigating the case from other angles as well just to make sure that there was no other reason for the girl to take that extreme step.
