Is Samsung Tab S8 Ultra good for binge watching? Let's find out

This past weekend, I decided to binge watch the latest season of Umbrella Academy on the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra. The Tab S8 Ultra not only features the largest display on a tablet that I have come across, but the device is also one of the thinnest at 5.5 mm.

The Samsung Galaxy S8 Ultra Tab features a 14.6 inches 2K Super AMOLED display which comes with support for 120Hz screen refresh rate and HDR10+. Consuming content on the tablet was an absolute treat. The display has great contrast, good colours with the right amount of saturation and deep blacks.

As Umbrella Academy is a superhero series, there are many scenes with special effects, which look vivid and superbly represented on the Tab S8 Ultra . Also scrolling through Netflix was extremely smooth because of the fast refresh rate support. It is important to note that for the purpose of this testing, the colour profile was set to Vivid (on by default) and the refresh rate was set to 120Hz.

Coming to the audio, the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra comes with a quad speaker setup that sounds great. While watching the series, the audio output was loud, had proper separation, and was greatly enhanced by setting the Dolby Atmos mode to Movie.

I was impressed by the speaker performance as it was clean and full, even when I placed the tablet on a table away from me.

While watching Umbrella Academy, I switched between placing the tablet on a table by using the Keyboard Book Cover and holding it in my hands. Thanks to the tablet weighing in at just around 725 g, I was easily able to consume content while holding the tablet. Even while lying down, I could easily watch the series by holding the tablet in my hand or by placing it on the bed, by using the stand present on the cover.

I would recommend users to either purchase the official Keyboard Book Cover which comes with an inbuilt stand, or a third party stand of their choice, to truly maximize the potential of the device, for their viewing needs.

Starting with 100 percent battery, and watching content for roughly 5 hours, I was left with 38 percent power. This means that by charging the device to full capacity, you should be able to use it to watch entire seasons of most shows or roughly 3-4 movies at once. This makes the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra a worthy choice for binge watching your favorite content.

I had an extremely enriching experience while binge watching the third season of Umbrella Academy on the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra. The display was one of the finest I have seen on a tablet, the audio was loud, and the battery life did not give me anything to worry about.
