Ikea to close its Delhi-NCR purchase office

New Delhi: Swedish furniture retailer Ikea is bringing the curtain down on its purchasing office in the Delhi NCR region, which has been running for decades. The latest development comes as the company, on June 22, inaugurated its largest store in India at Nagasandra, Bengaluru.
The furniture major is establishing its new purchasing office in the premises of the Bengaluru store and has informed its employees about the same telling them that they can either relocate or look at opportunities outside the organisation, according to an employee who spoke on the condition of anonymity.
Meanwhile, an Ikea spokesperson told ToI that the process of relocation will start now and will be completed at the end of April 2023, giving 10 months transition time to the employees.
The spokesperson shared that they are now entering the fifth decade and want to continue setting ourselves up for long-term and sustainable success by consolidating into one hub in Bangalore. Moreover, if employees do not wish to relocate to Bengaluru, Ikea will help them hunt for job opportunities within the organisation or will support them with external job coaching.
