Madhya Pradesh: A school principal was suspended after reports of a 'Mazar-like structure' being built inside the campus surfaced in Madhya Pradesh's Vidisha. Notably, there had been reports of the alleged illegal construction of a 'Mazar-like platform' in a school in Vidisha. Not only this but the now-suspended principal of the school is said to have refused to allow an idol of Goddess Saraswati on campus and prevented students from singing the national anthem and song.
"Prima facie, if there is any construction on any campus then - as the Head of the institution - the Principal or Principal in charge are accountable for it. So, we have suspended him," Madhya Pradesh Education Minister Inder Singh Parmar said on the matter.
Parmar further informed that a probe has been ordered in the case. "As per the initial probe, there's a platform with a 'Mazar-like' structure. It doesn't completely look like a Mazar. Still, there was no need to have it on that campus. So, we've ordered a probe," he said.
Further, speaking on reports that the students were stopped from singing the national anthem and song, the Education Minister noted that the statements of students will be recorded after which a decision would be made on the same. "We are constituting a team. The team will also record the statements of the students, only then will we reach a conclusion," he said.
Notably, the principal's suspension order was issued on Thursday after National Commission for Protection of Child Rights chairperson Priyank Kanoongo visited the school.
