Coimbatore: In a shocking incident, four people were arrested for sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl in a village near Pollachi in Tamil Nadu. The arrested men include the girl's grandfather and boyfriend, a report said.

According to the police, the survivor was in a relationship with a 21-year-old man for the past two years. The Udumalpet native was reportedly working in a grocery shop near the house of the Class XI student. The youth impregnated the minor girl and she told her grandfather of the development as she was scared to tell others in the family.

The 52-year-old man arranged medical assistance to abort her foetus, The New Indian Express (TNIE) quoted a police source as saying. However, the man later started to sexually assault his granddaughter threatening that he would inform her parents of the abortion, the news report said.

The girl was forced to flee the house on September 17 due to repeated assaults by the man. She reached her boyfriend's house at Udumalpet where his family reportedly made arrangements to get the duo married.

However, the girl's family lodged a missing complaint with the police soon after she went missing from the house. This forced the boy's family to produce her at the police station on September 23. A police officer told TNIE that the department learnt about the sexual assault when the girl was subjected to a medical examination.

“During the investigation, the girl revealed the incidents and accused her lover and her grandfather of sexual assault. Based on her statement, the youth, grandfather, the man’s friend who helped them and an uncle of the youth were booked under POCSO Act,” the policeman told the newspaper.

While three men including the girl's grandfather were nabbed on Friday, the youth was arrested on Saturday, police added.
