Gurugram building collapse: One dead, three injured as part of factory in Udyog Vihar caves in during demolition

The old factory building was under demolition since September 26. Two floors of the building had already been razed to the ground while the remaining part collapsed on Monday morning, trapping some labourers under it.
Gurugram: One person was killed after a factory building that was undergoing demolition collapsed in Gurugram's Udyog Vihar phase one on Monday. As many as four labourers were trapped under the debris of the collapsed structure of which three were rescued safely.
The body of the one labourer who lost his life in the accident has been retrieved said DC and District Magistrate, Nishant Yadav, adding that compensation will be given as per rules.
The labourers were trapped after the three-storey building that was being demolished collapsed. Nearly 12 labourers were carrying out demolition work in the factory when the incident took place at around 8 am on Monday.
Deepak Saharan, DCP West, said that it was an old building that was being demolished since September 26. Two floors of the three-floor building had been demolished and the remaining part collapsed under which three labourers were trapped.
The incident occurred when the roof of the last floor of the factory caved in.
The police along with the civil defence, and fire brigade started the rescue operation. Later, SDRF teams also arrived at the spot to help with the rescue work.
