Anurag Kashyap is undoubtedly one of the most prominent figures in showbiz. Beyond his filmmaking skills, Anurag is also renowned for speaking his mind without filtering his thoughts. He was recently at the BFI screening of his upcoming film Dobaaraa.
He recently spoke about filmmaking and how he enjoys long forms of storytelling. But amid that, Anurag also went on to say that the atmosphere in the film industry is very restrictive. The filmmaker went on to say, "but we’re also dealing with a kind of atmosphere where one is very restricted in the kind of drama that you can do,"
As quoted by Indian Express, he further said, "At the moment, we can’t do anything that is remotely political, or remotely religious. Those are big nos. And big nos not because anyone has said that you can’t do that, but because everybody is living in an atmosphere where they don’t know how anybody is going to react. Right now, we’re very fragile, we’re very easily offended. So, for creators in India, it’s a great time to create long-form storytelling and new experimental stuff, but at the same time, we are walking a very thin line."
Anurag also went on to add that they 'can't do' anything religious or political. "Those are big nos. And big nos not because anyone has said that you can’t do that, but because everybody is living in an atmosphere where they don’t know how anybody is going to react. Right now, we’re very fragile, we’re very easily offended," the filmmaker added.
His next film is titled Dobaaraa which is the remake of the Spanish film titled Mirage.
