Delhi: Woman slashed with knife after she tries to resist chain snatching bid in Bhajanpura

The robber tried to snatch the gold chain but faced resistance by the woman. The angry snatcher then took out a knife and attacked her causing injuries on her face and back in Bhajanpura area.

New Delhi: A snatcher has attacked a woman with knife after she tried to resist the snatching attempt in Bhajanpura area of northeast Delhi on Monday. The victim has been identified as Avantika Raghuvanshi, a resident of Faridabad district in Haryana.
The snatcher tried to loot the woman's gold chain in West Ghonda area around 5.30pm. In her complaint to police, the woman stated she was grabbed by neck by a snatcher when she was going to her parents' house along with her 5-year-old son.
The robber tried to snatch the gold chain but faced resistance by the woman. The snatcher asked the woman to handover her chain but the complainant grabbed it with her both hands, according to a report in Times of India.
The angry robber then took a knife and attacked the woman.
The 35-year-woman was injured in the attack on her face and back. Later, the victim's brother took her to a hospital.
The accused later fled on his motorcycle, Police said on Tuesday.
According to police, the accused robbed the woman of her gold chain and ran away with his accomplice who was waiting a few metres away on his motorcycle.
Police have file a case Sections 394 (voluntarily causing hurt in committing robbery) 326 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means) and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Further investigation is underway to nab the accused, said cops.
Police are now scanning the CCTV cameras installed in and around the vicinity of the crime scene to identify the suspects and how the sequence of events unfolded on the day of the incident.
