Nayanthara fans slam Karan Johar for being ‘disrespectful’ towards her while lauding Samantha Ruth Prabhu

Along with brewing interesting gossip, Karan Johar’s Koffee With Karan has a knack for churning out controversies as well. There may have been only three episodes of season 7 of the popular chat show so far, but there’s no dearth of controversies.

The latest episode of Koffee With Karan Season 7 marked Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s debut on the Koffee couch. The Oo Antava stunner, who appeared on the show with Akshay Kumar, stole the limelight with her relatable and straightforward answers.

During their conversation, Karan displayed Ormax Media's list of most popular female stars in the country, which is topped by Samantha. Then, while discussing why stars shy away from multi-starrers, Karan asked Samantha about working with a Southern actress in a film.

To this, Samantha replied that she just worked with Nayanthara in Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal. "Well, I recently did a film with Nayanthara,” Samantha said, adding that Nayanthara is the biggest actress down South.

However, Karan did not agree and quipped that his list doesn’t say so. “Well, not on my list!" reacted the Ae Dil Hai Mushkil filmmaker.

Karan’s response did not go down well with Nayanthara fans as they believe that the producer-director disregarded their beloved actress’ popularity. Taking to Twitter, they came down heavily upon Karan and called him out for being ‘disrespectful’.

“The way Kjo disrespected #Nayanthara breaks my heart I mean how can someone be this cocky and disrespectful towards such an actor... Never liked him..but now, he's seriously a waste material and nothing else,” wrote one user.

Another said, “Karan Johar doesnt have any right to shame #Nayanthara on his stupid Koffee show. You cannot even achieve half of what she has achieved."

Meanwhile, Nayanthara has teamed up with Shah Rukh Khan for Atlee’s Jawan. The pan-India film is slated to hit the screens in June 2023.
