New Delhi: An official said on Friday that two illegal arms suppliers had been apprehended in the national capital region.
Firoz Khan (aged 24) and Rizwan (aged 24), both natives of Loni, Uttar Pradesh, were named as the suspects.
According to DCP (Crime Branch) Vichitra Veer of the Delhi Police, the police frequently keep strong monitoring in regions of West Delhi, Outer Delhi, as well as the border areas of Delhi because these areas are home to many residents who come from Delhi's neighbouring states.
On June 17, information was acquired that a certain illegal arms dealer identified as Firoz would be coming close to Bhalswa Jheel, Bhalswa Dairy Delhi, in order to deliver illegal weapons to an unidentified individual, news agency IANS reported.
A team was then assembled, and deployed in the predetermined location near Bhalswa Jheel with the informer, and a trap was set.
The DCP Vichitra Veer told IANS, "The suspect Firoz carrying a bag on his back was spotted. On checking of his bag, 2 pistols of .32 bore with 10 rounds and three country-made pistols of .315 bore with 3 rounds were recovered."
As a result, the cops arrested the accused Firoz and filed a complaint under sections 25, 54, and 59 of the Arms Act.
During questioning, the suspect acknowledged his involvement in the crime and disclosed that he had given a pistol to Rizwan a few days prior. As a result, Rizwan was also arrested at Firoz's request.
In order to find other suspects, the source of illegal weapons and ammunition, more investigation and questioning are being conducted. The official indicated that further arrests and recoveries are likely.
