By-Elections 2022: Results for 3 Lok Sabha, 7 Assembly seats today

Among the Lok Sabha seats that went to polls are Rampur and Azamgarh constituencies in Uttar Pradesh and Sangrur in Punjab. Assembly bypolls were held in Rajinder Nagar in Delhi, Mandar in Jharkhand, Atmakuru in Andhra Pradesh, and in four constituencies - Agartala, Jubarajnagar, Surma and Town Bardowali - in Tripura.

Bypoll results for three Lok Sabha and seven Assembly seats on Sunday (June 26)

New Delhi: Results for three Lok Sabha and seven assembly seats that went to bypolls earlier this week will be announced today (Sunday). Counting of votes will begin at 8 am. Among the Lok Sabha seats that went to polls are Rampur and Azamgarh constituencies in Uttar Pradesh and Sangrur in Punjab. The Sangrur seat fell vacant after sitting MP Bhagwant Mann was elected as chief minister of Punjab. Bypoll in Azamgarh was necessitated after Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav resigned from the seat after he was elected to the Assembly. Rampur seat was vacated by Azam Khan, who is now an MLA.
In Azamgarh, the BJP has fielded Dinesh Lal Yadav 'Nirhua' against SP's Dharmendra Yadav and BSP's Shah Alam. The Rampur seat has witnessed a bipolar contest between BJP's Ghanshyam Singh Lodhi and Asim Raja of the Samajwadi Party. In 2019, the SP had won this seat by over 1 lakh votes. The SP had also won Azamgarh seat by over 2.5 lakh votes.
Assembly bypolls were held in Rajinder Nagar in Delhi, Mandar in Jharkhand, Atmakuru in Andhra Pradesh, and in four constituencies - Agartala, Jubarajnagar, Surma and Town Bardowali - in Tripura. The elections on these seats were held on June 23. While Sangrur recorded the lowest turnout, highest voting was done in Tripura (76.62 per cent).
In Delhi, bypoll was necessitated after sitting MLA Raghav Chadha was elected to Rajya Sabha. Here, the AAP has fielded Durgesh Pathak against BJP's Rajesh Bhatia. In Jharkhand, sitting MLA Bandhu Tirkey was disqualified following his conviction in a corruption case. This forced bypolls for the Mandar seat. Here, the contest is between Congress-JMM candidate Shilpi Neha Tirkey and Gangotri Kujur of the BJP.
Bypolls in Andhra Pradesh was necessitated due to the death of sitting MLA Mekapati Goutham Reddy. Here, Reddy's younger brother Vikram is the YSR Congress candidate against BJP's G Bharat Kumar Yadav.
