New Delhi: Congress on Friday staged a massive nationwide protests against the policies of Narendra Modi-led central government. Senior Congress leaders including Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Vadra were detained during the protests and later released.

Here are top 10 developments from the Congress protests

1. Congress leaders across the cities staged massive protests against the central government over price rise and unemployment. Protests were staged in many state capitals and cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bhopal, Patna, Chandigarh and Jammu.

2.In the national capital, police had imposed Section 144 but Congress workers defied the restrictions forcing the personnel to detain them.

3.The police detained many top Congress leaders and MPs like Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, Shashi Tharoor, Sachin Pilot, and Harish Rawat and later released them.

4. Congress leader Sachin Pilot alleged that party leaders and workers were detained in an 'undemocratic way.' "We were kept locked for the whole day, we wanted to have discussions in the House.By fixing the accountability of govt, it is our responsibility to question them. The way we were detained in an undemocratic way is not a good sign."

5.Union Home Minister Amit Shah reacted to the ongoing ED probes against Congress leaders and said that the 'party should act responsibly and cooperate.'

6.Delhi police said it detained a total of 225 Congress protestors including 65 MPs today.

7. Congress leader from Haryana, Deepender Hooda, said, "Center should make Police line instead of new Parliament along with making ED office in the building of Parliament."
