UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s special gesture, receives PM Narendra Modi at airport

New Delhi: In a special gesture, UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and members of the Royal family came all the way to the airport to meet and interact with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
MEA spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said that the UAE President came to the airport so that PM did not have to go all the way to the city.
The PM conveyed his personal condolences on the demise of the former president of the Gulf nation Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

PM Modi arrived in the UAE on a brief visit after attending a productive G7 Summit in Germany where he interacted with several world leaders and discussed issues aimed at furthering global well-being and prosperity.
During his meeting with the UAE president, the PM conveyed his personal condolences on the passing away of Sheikh Khalifa, who passed away on May 13 at the age of 73.
This is their first one-on-one meeting between PM Modi and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan after the latter was elected as the new president last month.
Expressing grief over Sheikh Khalifa’s death, PM Modi called him a great statesman and visionary leader under whom India-UAE relations blossomed.

India had also announced one day of state mourning after the demise of Sheikh Khalifa and the Indian tricolour was flown at half-mast throughout the country on all buildings where the flag is flown regularly.
Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu last month visited the UAE and offered condolences to the UAE leadership.
Earlier, the PM had visited the UAE in August 2019 during which he was conferred with UAE’s highest award, ‘Order of Zayed’.
As per the Ministry of External Affairs, the UAE was India’s third-largest trading partner for the year 2019-20 after China and US.
