Ind vs SA: Suryakumar Yadav completes 1000 T20I runs; beats MS Dhoni in elite list, creates new world record

Suryakumar Yadav continued his brilliant run of form in the ongoing second T20I between India and South Africa at the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati. The Indian batter was his brutal best and put South Africa on the backfoot following a brilliant start by Indian openers KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma.

Suryakumar Yadav continued his stunning run of form with a mind-blowing knock in the ongoing 2nd T20I between India and South Africa at the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati. The Indian batter scored his third successive 50+ score in the shortest format of the game with an incredible knock.
Suryakumar reached the milestone in just 18 balls and by virtue of that brought the joint second-fastest half-century for Team India in T20I cricket. By virtue of his effort, Suryakumar went level with KL Rahul who also scored a half-century in 18 balls during the 2021 T20 World Cup. Yuvraj Singh holds the record with a 12-ball half-century against England in the 2007 T20 World cup.
Moreover, Suryakumar Yadav completed a total of 1000 runs in the shortest format of the game and became the ninth Indian to achieve the milestone. Only Virat Kohli (27 innings) and KL Rahul (29 innings) reached the milestone quicker than Suryakumar (31 innings) among Indians. The 32-year-old reached the milestone quicker than MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina, Yuvraj Singh, Rohit Sharma, and Shikhar Dhawan.
The dynamic middle-order batter also created a new world record of taking the least number of balls to reach 1,000 T20I runs. Suryakumar took 573 balls to reach the landmark and beat Glenn Maxwell's long-standing record of 604 balls.

Talking about the match, India put up a massive total of 237 on the board. Suryakumar made a 22-ball 61 while Rahul had scored 57 runs in just 28 balls. Virat Kohli played an incredible unbeaten knock of 49 in just 28 balls. Dinesh Karthik gave the Men in Blue a perfect finish with a 7-ball 17. Skipper Rohit made 43 runs in 36 balls as part of a 96-run opening stand with Rahul.
