Bihar man shot dead at friend's birthday party, protest erupts in Arrah

Arrah: A protest erupted in Arrah of Bihar's Bhojpur district after a man was shot dead while attending his friend's birthday party on Wednesday. According to reports, the victim, identified as Jeetendra Kumar (38) was fatally shot while he was at a house in Anand Nagar in Shivpur locality of Arrah to take part in birthday celebration.
Jeetendra Kumar died on the sport after being shot thrice, the Times of India (TOI) said in a report. Four empty catridges were recovered from the spot by the police, alongside liquor bottles and plates filled with snacks, the report added.

Meanwhile, as the news of the murder spread, angry residents blocked the Arrah-Patna road for about an hour, the TOI report said. The locals were pacified and dispersed by the SHO of Nawada PS, Avinash Kumar who later arrived on the spot, the news report said.
In another incident, a man who allegedly practiced witchcraft was arrested for killing his minor son in the state's Banka district, an official said on Friday.
The accused, Dipak Sharma, allegedly strangled his seven-year-old son Raghav Kumar on the night of Vijaya Dashmi to "gain black magic spells". The incident occurred in Mahota village under Amarpur police station in the district, a report said.
