Robbers loot Rs 25 lakh from farmer in Ludhiana posing as Income Tax officials

The incident happened on Sunday morning when the victim was at home with his whole family and the robbers knocked on the door. They introduced themselves as Income Tax officials. He also said that some of the robbers were also carrying pistols with them. They locked the family members inside a room in the house itself and then decamped with cash and jewellery kept in the almirah.

Ludhiana: A group of four men posed as Income Tax officials and raided the house of a farmer and seized Rs 25 lakh from him and left. The police are investigating the matter, reported TOI.
According to the reports, the plan of the robbers was inspired by Bollywood flicks of duping the victim.
The victim, a farmer named Sajjan Singh from Rohano Khurd village of Ludhiana district in Punjab told the police that he had sold a 21-acre land and kept a part of the money in the bank and a part of it at home to buy land from it.
The incident happened on Sunday morning as per the victim, when he was at home with his whole family when the robbers knocked on the door and introduced themselves as Income Tax officials.
He also said that some of the robbers were also carrying pistols with them. They locked the family members inside a room in the house itself and then decamped with cash and jewellery kept in the almirah.
The family members said that they somehow managed to come out of the room and informed the police about it.
The police are now investigating the matter.
A couple of days back in New Delhi, police arrested seven men who disguised as cops to rob wellness centre.
The Bollywood film "Special 26" served as an inspiration for these accused's crime-planning, according to the authorities. Four of the defendants showed up at the workplace and pretended to be Mumbai Police officers. They stole between Rs. 5-7 lakh from the plaintiff and his family under the guise of a raid.
