After the break between seasons, one of the most exciting leagues in Europe is back as the La Liga has kicked off. With one of the two legendary clubs in the league, FC Barcelona beginning their campaign with a draw against Rayo Vallecano, Real Madrid will be taking the field tonight for the first time this season, and it will be against newly promoted side Almeria.

Real Madrid had a fantastic 2021/22 season under Carlo Ancelotti. After the manager was appointed in charge of the club last season, they went on to a double trophy haul, clinching the La Liga and the UEFA Champions League fo a record 13th time.

Real Madrid also have had a pretty strong pre-season as well, with the crowning achievement being their UEFA Super Cup win over Eintracht Framkfurt, thus winning the competition for a record-equalling fifth time.

Madrid have also strengthened themselves in the summer transfer window. They have solidified their back-line with the addition of Antonio Rudiger on a free transfer from Chelsea. They have also added a solid addition to their midfield having signed Aurelien Tchouameni from AS Monaco for a deal worth up to €100 million.

With such an impressive campaign behind them, Real Madrid will look to begin their campaign on a high against Almeria.
