R Madhavan is on cloud nine and rightly so as his son Vedaant Madhavan entered record books on Sunday, July 17. At the 48th Junior National Aquatic Championships, Vedaant set a new national junior record in swimming.
Proving his mettle, the 16-year-old broke Advait Page's 2017 record of 16:06.43 seconds in 1500m freestyle event by clocking 16:01.73 seconds and took home a gold medal.
The Rocketry: The Nambi Effect actor took to his Twitter account to cheer for his talented son and shared a clip from the event along with a caption that read, “Never say never. National Junior Record for 1500m freestyle broken.”
Madhavan had been supporting Vedaant from the very beginning as he urged his fans to watch him perform at the Junior National Aquatic Championships while sharing a YouTube link. “48th Junior National Aquatic Championship 2022 (Final) Vedaant at the 1500m Junior National finals . Live NOW . pls watch,” wrote Madhavan.
As the competition continued, Madhavan kept on sharing important updates. He also tweeted, “With the Grace of god and all your blessing Vedaant @VedaantMadhavan breaks his 1st meet record of the 1500 m free style at the National Junior aquatic meet.”
Meanwhile, this isn’t the first time when Vedaant has done his parents proud with his talent. Earlier, in the month of April, Vedaant had secured a gold medal in the men's 800m freestyle at the Danish Open in Copenhagen.
At that point, the 3 Idiots actor had expressed his happiness by saying, "And So TODAY the winning streak continues.. @VedaantMadhavan gets a GOLD at Denmark open. Pradeep Sir @swimmingfedera1 #ANSAdxb & all of you for the continued blessings."
On the work front, Madhavan has been garnering accolades for his performance in Rocketry: The Nambi Effect, which also happens to be his maiden directorial venture. The film hit the screens on July 1.
