Jammu: There is a new shift in terror strategy adopted by Pakistan-sponsored jihadis. Terror organisations like Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) have started infiltration into political parties, as a part of their new strategy to use non-violent means to carry forward their violent ideology and agenda.
This new shift in terror strategy has left security agencies scratching their forehead.
This sinister plot of infiltrating democracies came to light recently following the arrest of Talib Shah, one of the most wanted Lashkar commanders and mastermind of multiple explosions in Kotranka and Darhal areas of Rajouri district.
Shah along with his associate was overpowered by unarmed villagers in Tuksan dhok in Reasi district.
Large quantities of arms and ammunition were also recovered from their possession.
Investigations revealed that Shah was heading the IT cell of the minority wing of BJP in Rajouri district. However, BJP leaders claim that two months back he had resigned from the party.
This is not the first of its episode where terrorists have infiltrated into rank and file political organisations to checkmate security agencies.
"Under the garb of political activism, these elements try to give shape to their sinister plot. This way they get access to several places and can easily do reconnaissance of any particular area to target VIP," says a senior security force officer.
Investigation into Udaipur hate crime incident also blows the lid off a similar sinister modus operandi.
Riyaz Attari, the man who brutally murdered a tailor in Udaipur named Kanhaiyal last week to avenge an alleged insult to the Prophet, was also seen rubbing shoulders with BJP leaders.
Mohammad Ghaus and Riyaz Attari, the two men accused of murdering tailor Kanhaiya Lal in Udaipur, after their return from Saudi had been trying to join BJP’s minority cell in Rajasthan for years.
Attari had been navigating himself through the party with the help of some BJP followers so that he can get access to programmes organised for BJP dignitaries.
These two episodes have given enough ammunition to opposition parties like Congress to train their guns on BJP. Congress leaders want NIA to probe alleged links between these terrorists and party functionaries.
"You can't blame any political party for this. Because there is no instrument to check intentions of any person unless there is a piece of evidence related to his terror activities," explains S P Vaid former DGP J&K.
