When it comes to ensuring youngsters are made to feel comfortable in the dressing room, there are few players who go to any extreme as Virat Kohli. A recent incident proved another example of the same as an angry Kohli confronted a spectator sitting in the stands, who was making fun of Kamlesh Nagarkoti. The young pacer was warming up near the boundary line and was reportedly repeatedly bothered by fans behind him.
The incident took place on the second day of play during India's ongoing four-day warm-up match against Leicestershire at Grace Road. The match is Rohit Sharma & co.'s final preparation ahead of the massive one-off Test match against England at Edgbaston from July 1.
After seeing Nagarkoti having issues with the fans, Kohli who was sitting in the dressing room balcony rushed to his defense. The former Indian captain had an angry confrontation with the spectators which led to the fan arguing his case and claiming that he just wants a photo with the youngster. "I've been continuously asking for a photo. I came here after taking the day off from my office. So, I've been calling Nagarkoti to click a photo with me at least)," the fan could be heard telling Kohli. Kohli replied saying, "He is here to play the match, and not to click photos." The conversation took place in Hindi and the supporter was a fan of the Indian cricket team.
Nagarkoti is not a member of India's squad for the Test match but has travelled to England as a net-bowler. Navdeep Saini, R Sai Kishore, and Simranjeet Singh alongside Nagarkoti are India's four net bowlers for the series against England. The upcoming Test match is a vital one for India as not only are there World Test Championship (WTC) points at stake but it also the fifth and final game of last year's incomplete series.
