Broad will always remember 2 names: Ex-India cricketer reacts after Bumrah shatters world record in Eng Test

Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra said that Stuart Broad will always remember two names - Jasprit Bumrah and Yuvraj Singh. Chopra's remarks have come after Broad conceded 35 runs in a single over during India's meeting with England in the 5th Test match. Bumrah smashed 29 runs with the bat against Broad to break Brian Lara's world record.

KEY HIGHLIGHTS
  • Jasprit Bumrah smashed 29 runs in Stuart Broad's over on Saturday.
  • Bumrah has managed to break Brian Lara's world record.
  • Bumrah was named as India's stand-in captain for the 5th Test match.
Veteran England pacer Stuart Broad was taken to the cleaners by Jasprit Bumrah in the ongoing 5th Test of the 2021 series between the hosts and Team India at Edgbaston on Saturday. Broad, who was smashed for 36 runs by legendary batter Yuvraj Singh, received somewhat similar treatment from India's Bumrah in the Test series decider at Edgbaston. Scripting another unwanted record, Broad leaked 35 runs to enter his name in the record books for all the wrong reasons.
Talking about Broad's disastrous spell against the stand-in Test skipper, former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra opined that the senior England pacer will always remember two names - Bumrah and Yuvraj. Sharing a video on his YouTube channel, former cricketer and popular cricket pundit Chopra reviewed the second day of the rescheduled 5th Test match between Team India and Ben Stokes-led England.
“Stuart Broad will always remember two names, one is of course Yuvraj Singh - he had struck six sixes, and the second is Jasprit Boom Boom Bumrah. Stuart Broad has picked up 550 Test wickets but he has created a record which he won't be very proud of," Chopra said. Pacer Bumrah has shattered Brian Lara's world record of scoring the most runs in a single over.
With the willow, Bumrah smashed 29 runs in the 84th over bowled by the England pacer. Broad ended up conceding a record-setting 35 runs in his over. "35 runs in an over, the most expensive over in the history of Test cricket, the batter was Jasprit Bumrah. He did an amazing job and took India beyond 400. How were 35 runs scored in an over, that is a beautiful thing - first a four, then a wide which went for four, six off a no-ball, and then four, four, four and six," the former India opener added. Under Bumrah's leadership India are eyeing its first Test series triumph in England since 2007.
