Jasdeep's parents, Dr Randhir Singh and Kirpal Kaur, are natives of Harsi Pind village in Hoshiarpur's Tanda block of Punjab.
Randhir Singh's neighbour Charanjit Singh said that Jasdeep's parents were in shock and were unable to talk. Randhir Singh and Kirpal Kaur have retired from the health and education departments, respectively, said news agency PTI.
On September 29, Randhir Singh returned to India from abroad, according to Charanjit Singh.
After arriving, he left for a pilgrimage in Uttarakhand. As soon as he reached Rishikesh, he received a call from his daughter-in-law Jaspreet Kaur from the US informing him that her husband Amandeep Singh and other family members had been kidnapped.
Randhir Singh returned to his village on Tuesday evening after he received the shocking news. He will leave for the US soon, according to Charanjit Singh.
Charanjit Singh added that people from Harsi Pind and its surrounding villages came to Randhir Singh's house to show support and pray for the safe return of the kidnapped persons.
Moreover, he claimed that Hoshiarpur MP Som Parkash had also telephoned Randhir Singh and assured him of the government's full support.
In addition, Tanda Deputy Superintendent of Police Kulwant Singh assured Dr Randhir Singh of his full support.
