Ayan Mukerji’s magnum opus Brahmastra continues to remain the talk of the town even weeks after its release. The Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt starrer brought back audiences to theatres and is having a stellar run at the box office.
Even though the adventure-fantasy film has gone past the Rs 250 crore mark in the domestic market, many have been casting doubts over its success. While some claim that Brahmastra has not managed to earn more than its speculated high budget, others think that the box office figures are not accurate.
Amid all sorts of conjectures about his film, Ayan has broken his silence on the matter. In an interview, Ayan said that he does not need to give any clarification since the verdict of the audience is loud and clear.
“The kind of person I am, I feel so strange to be tom-tomming about yourself or your film. It feels like the verdict on the film is out there. We are moving with a lot of energy into our future. I think the success of the film is speaking for itself. I shouldn’t have to say anything else,” Ayan told Hindustan Times.
Further, reacting to the conversation that Brahmastra brought a sigh of relief for the Hindi film industry which was struggling for a successful film, he said, “We have definitely had a positive impact in energizing the movie conversation and going to the cinemas. As any successful film does, this has left some positivity behind. It’s one of the nice things we have managed to accomplish.”
Backed by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, Brahmastra has been envisioned by Ayan as a trilogy. Encouraged by the positive response to the first instalment, the filmmaker is excited to be working on the next two parts.
The second edition has been titled Brahmastra Part Two: Dev.
