Team India batter Virat Kohli is one of the most popular cricketers around the world. Not just in India, on the Men in Blue's overseas tours, whether in Australia or England, the local fans, and media anticipate Kohli's arrival in their home country and it feels like it's not bilateral between the two nations but the home side vs the former Indian skipper.
Something similar transpired when India toured Australia in 2020-21 and in England last year. Kohli returns to the British country once again and the fans in Leicester were delighted with his arrival in their city for the four-day warm-up game.
Kohli also got some runs with the bat as his returns of 33 and 67 in two innings not just delighted the Indian fans with the rescheduled final Test against England starting in the next few days but also the local crowd, who got to see one of the best players of current generation in full flow.
After the match ended in a draw, Kohli took to Twitter to share a few pictures from the game while thanking Leicestershire for a good game and hospitality for a week. The photos were clicked by a Leicestershire and ECB photographer John Mallett and he was quick to react after seeing those images shared by Kohli himself on his official social media handle.
Mallett was delighted and said that it was a privilege for him to cover the match and to be able to capture those shots featuring one of the greatest players in the world. "Hugely humbled that one of the world's greatest players chose to use some of my images from the game with @leicsccc on his personal media accounts. A privilege to have been able to capture these shots. Thanks to VK & every one @BCCI for your support," he wrote.
As head coach Rahul Dravid said, it was a good week for India in Leicester to prepare themselves for the Edgbaston Test and hoped that the team hits the ground running as there's just one game and there is no scope for mistakes.
