Jalandhar: In a village under the Dasuva subdivision of the Hoshiarpur district of Punjab, a six-year-old boy fell into a 100-feet-deep borewell on Sunday morning. A rescue was launched following the incident by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF). An Army unit was also called to the spot by the district administration.

The six-year-old has been identified as Hritik. As per sources, he was playing in a farm field when some stray dogs started chasing him, to save himself he climbed a borewell shaft. The borewell shaft was covered with a jute bag, he fell into the borewell shaft as soon as he sat on the bag. The parents of the boy were not around when the incident took place, they are migrant labourers, reported The Indian Express.
Confirming the incident, Sandeep Hans, Hoshiarpur deputy commissioner said that the boy fell into a deep borewell. Teams of NDRF and the Army have already been called to carry on the rescue operation. He further said that the condition of the boy was being monitored through a camera and high-flow oxygen was being supplied into the well.
The deputy commissioner also added that in order to give immediate treatment to the boy after his rescue, health teams have also been called in. Hans further said that the six-year old seemed to be lying in a semi-conscious state.
