Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur opened up about Bollywood being India’s soft power at the Times Now Summit 2022. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader said that the Hindi film industry has a global outreach and therefore has the power to influence minds worldwide. He further talked about his plans to unleash Bollywood’s complete potential.
ANURAG THAKUR CALLS BOLLYWOOD INDIA'S SOFT POWER
While conversing with Times Now Editor-in-Chief Rahul Shivshankar, the respected Union Minister said that Bollywood has the potential and talent to get global recognition. He further shared that he approached the reputed Cannes Film Festival and received an encouraging response from the stakeholders, who are ready to invest in Indian talents.
Anurag Thakur particularly laid emphasis on how Bollywood has the power to leave its imprint on the whole wide world.
ANURAG THAKUR WEIGHS IN ON ADIPURUSH CONTROVERSY
The I&B Minister also expressed his views on the recent controversy surrounding Prabhas' Adipurush, which is based on the Hindu epic Ramayana. Reacting to Rahul Shivshankar's question about the Om Raut film, Anurag Thakur said that controversies happen before a film's release but when one watches it, there is nothing in the film.
“We need to understand why these controversies take place. I can give a lot of examples, a lot of controversies erupt, but when you finally see the film, nothing comes out of it. One has to think about it." said Anurag Thakur.
Minister for Information and Broadcasting Anurag Thakur was one of the guests at the Times Now Summit 2022. Several notable names from the Indian film industry are also slated to attend the ongoing summit.
