Madhya Pradesh: 4 in police net on charges of selling spurious liquor

The crime branch team, including the police officials of Jabalpur district nabbed four offenders involved in the sale of spurious liquor. The investigating teams have also seized several litres of country-made liquor as well as cash and vehicles from the possession of the accused.

Madhya Pradesh: The crime branch team, including the police officials of Jabalpur district nabbed four offenders involved in the sale of spurious liquor. Following the orders of Superintendent of Police Siddharth Bahuguna, a joint operation was conducted to nab the offenders involved in trading illicit liquor.
The investigating teams have also seized several litres of country-made liquor as well as cash and vehicles from the possession of the accused, The Free Press Journal reported.
In the first incident, the police team received tip-offs from whistleblowers regarding illicit liquor traders, following which the police reached the locations to nab the accused.
In another such recent incident, the police officials received another tip-off about two youth trading illicit liquor in a scooty, and about to reach the Cherital locality. The teams reached the location to spot the accused, who was carrying illicit liquor in a sack. On interrogating, the duo admitted their crime.
Recently, in May 2022, the Punjab excise department along with the local police had busted an organised module of liquor smugglers involved in supplying and filling cheap smuggled alcohol into empty bottles of expensive foreign liquor brands. The police during the raid had arrested four persons in connection with the crime, Hindustan Times reported.
During the raid at the residence of the accused, the police recovered other foreign brands as well. The accused admitted that they buy empty bottles of foreign liquor brands from different scrap dealers of Mohali and Ludhiana. Scrap dealers were also involved in the racket.
