IMD issues red alert for several districts of Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra. See weather update

Most parts of Odisha are expected to receive significant rainfall today with alerts issued for 21 of 30 districts. Heavy rain predicted in Odisha, Maharashtra

New Delhi: Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to strike Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Goa and Ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra during the next two days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Tuesday. The weather office also issued red and orange alerts for several districts in these states till 11 August.

For Chhattisgarh, the weather office issued a red alert for Sukma, Bastar, Dantewada, Bijapur, and Narayanpur on Wednesday. An orange alert has been issued for six other districts - Rajnandgaon, Balod, Dhamtari, Kondagaon, Gariaband, and Mahasamund.
Alerts have also been issued for Maharashtra. Here, alerts have been issued for the eastern and western regions. In the eastern region, a red alert has been for Gadchiroli, Chandrapur, Bhandara, and Gondia; and an orange alert for Nagpur, Wardha, and Yavatmal. In western Maharashtra, a red alert has been issued for four districts - Ratnagiri, Pune, Raigad, and Palghar. Districts like Satara, Kolhapur, Nashik, and Thane are also likely to witness heavy rainfall.
In a weather forecast, the IMD on Tuesday said heavy to extremely heavy rainfall is likely over Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha, Gujarat, Konkan, Goa and Ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra during the next two days.
In the north, Himachal and Uttarakhand are expected to witness another spell of moderate to heavy rainfall on August 10 (Wednesday).
