Bengaluru: The work to make the Bengaluru Nidaghatta section of NH-275 into a six-lane national highway, will shorten the travel time by fifty percent, from 3 hours (presently) to 90 minutes, according to the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari. It will also reduce traffic congestion.
He said that the new India of the twenty-first century is focused on developing the world's best infrastructure. Keeping this in mind, he remarked in a series of tweets that the project for six-laning of the Bengaluru Nidaghatta Section of NH-275 is moving on with lots of promises.
"Once the project is completed, the present travel time of 3 hours shall be reduced to 90 mins that will bring down fuel consumption and carbon footprint," he added.
The Bangalore to Nidagatta section of NH-275 begins near Panchamukhi Temple intersection in Bangalore's south zone and ends just before Nidagatta.
This road is important for tourism and the economy because it will connect Srirangapatna, Mysore, Ooty, Kerala, and Coorg. It also passes through the small towns of Bidadi, Channapatana, and Ramanagara, which have Asia's largest market for silk cocoons and provide access to the country's only vulture sanctuary, said Gadkari.
Road safety upgrades such as eliminating at-grade junctions and providing vehicular underpasses and overpasses have been implemented to eliminate accidents and disputes on this road.
The six bypasses in the stretch, according to Gadkari, are projected to relieve traffic congestion and guarantee the health, environment, and road safety of cities such as Bidadi, Ramnagara, Channarayapatna, Maddur, Mandya, and Srirangapatna for a total length of 51.5 kilometres.
Team MoRTH, is working around the clock under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visionary leadership to execute numerous such active projects, he added.
