Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha is the official Hindi remake of the iconic Tom Hanks’ movie Forrest Gump. The film also stars Kareena Kapoor Khan, Naga Chaitanya and Mona Singh in pivotal roles. Laal Singh Chaddha, along with Akshay Kumar’s Raksha Bandhan were wo of the biggest films to release on the Independence Day weekend in 2022.
It seems there is some light for Aamir Khan starrer Laaal Singh Chaddha at the end of the tunnel. After being virtually writ off from the domestic market owing to dismal performances at ticket theatres, it turns out that Laal Singh Chaddha has managed to make a mark at international circuits.
For the unversed, Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha is the official Hindi remake of the iconic Tom Hanks’ movie Forrest Gump. The film also stars Kareena Kapoor Khan, Naga Chaitanya and Mona Singh in pivotal roles. Laal Singh Chaddha, along with Akshay Kumar’s Raksha Bandhan were wo of the biggest films to release on the Independence Day weekend in 2022. However, both films were box office duds. Or almost so.
As per latest reports, Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha might have flopped domestically, but the film has broken a significant record at the worldwide box office. As per a report in Bollywood Hungama, it has become the highest-grossing Hindi film of 2022 in international markets. The film managed to edge out hits such as Gangubai Kathiawadi, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and The Kashmir Files.
As per the report, with $7.5 million (Rs 59 crore) in over a week of release, Laal Singh Chaddha has managed to surpass Gangubai Kathiawadi ($7.47 million), Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 ($5.88 million), and The Kashmir Files ($5.7 million). The Telugu hit RRR, however, has made nearly $20 million from international markets. Interestingly, all three Bollywood releases were massive domestic hits.
In domestic market, however, Laal Singh Chaddha’s performance was underwhelming, to say the least. Made at a budget of Rs 180 crore, the film raked in a little over Rs 55 crore. Laal Singh Chaddha’s worldwide gross now stands at Rs 126 crore.
In the domestic market, According to a Boxofficeindia.com report states that Laal Singh Chaddha collected Rs 50 lacs on Monday. It looks a little difficult for it to reach the Rs 60 crore mark.
