If you are not from North East India, there are some places in the region that you absolutely must tour or have on your 'to visit' list.
The picturesque town of Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh needs no introduction. It will most certainly be in the top three of all travel destination lists in the Northeast.
Tawang has located 448 km northwest of state capital Itanagar and lies to the north of the Tawang Chu river valley, just 16 km south of the Line of Actual Control with China.
The town is one of the most visited places in the whole of North East India despite the fact that visitors require an Inner Line Permit (ILP) issued by the government before traveling.
Tawang is known for its lush green landscapes, a 400-year-old monastery, small lakes, and an overall natural splendor that can give any European travel destination a run for its money.
The place turns into a white wonderland from December to February, when all of the towns receive heavy snowfall.
Arunachal Pradesh has an abundance of picturesque green landscapes. Tawang is certainly up there in terms of popularity and access.
While you may have seen the place in high-definition photos and videos, a new clip shared by Arunachal Chief Minister, Pemma Khandu, shows Tawang from a new perspective.
The drone footage captures the pristine landscape of the region during the monsoon months. The clip shows the Beghar village, which Khandu said is a 'must visit' destination for all tourists.

"It's Beghar village in Tawang. So green and magnificent! Great are the people who take pride in taking care of their village so well. Beghar is a must-visit destination. Join the #DekhoApnaPradesh campaign and enjoy the beauty and diversity of our sweet #Arunachal. Video: Dukhum Magu," wrote Pema Khandu.
The tweet by the Chief Minister of Arunachal is a call to the public to join the 'Deko Apna Pradesh' campaign.
Deko Apna Pradesh' was launched by Khandu in 2021 to promote and revive tourism in Arunachal Pradesh after it received a huge setback due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
