Amid netizens bashing Adipurush's poor VFX, Hindu religious leaders react to Saif Ali Khan playing Ravana
Hindu Mahants and gurus are upset with the casting choice of Ravana for director Om Raut's 2023 film Adipurush. Starring Bahubali fame Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, Saif Ali Khan, and many others. Played by Saif, several religious leaders have strongly spoken against the character being portrayed by the actor and have voiced their concerns on the same.

On Sunday (October 2), the first teaser for Om Raut's eagerly anticipated Adipurush was unveiled which left netizens divided. While some people praised the movie's first impression, many others were let down by CGI and VFX.
In addition to this, many people on Twitter have noted instances in the trailer that made them think of Marvel's Avengers series, Game of Thrones, and numerous other Hollywood movies.
After the teaser resulted in a meme-fest on the internet, several Hindu religious leaders have now stepped upfront to react to the casting choice for Ravana in the Om Raut-directed movie.
Mahant Raju Das, a supreme religious leader in Ayodhya stated that Ravana was equally evil as compared to the Mughal invaders and therefore felt that there was no problem with the actor portraying the character in a beard.
Jagadguru Paramhans, on the other hand, mentioned that Saif Ali Khan playing Ravana in the attire of a Mughal warrior does injustice to the character since he was believed to a devout of Lord Shiva and a scholar.
Other religious heads also presented their arguments on the issue. Pithadhishwar Swami Vivek Acharya from Dant Kund, Ayodhya stated that filmmakers have always been prodding and making fun of the religion's sentiments in their films for a long time.
Questioning the justice provided to the characters portrayed in a Hindu mythological film, he mentioned that Lord Ram had advised Laxman to learn from Ravana before his demise, so will the filmmakers try to display Islam the same way as Santan dharma?
Parag Baba Ram Das stated that even though Ravana was evil, he was still a Brahmin Hindu and therefore cannot be compared to terrorists. He raised his voice against the portrayal of the character in the film and said that it would hurt the sentiments of Hindus.
Adipurush will feature Prabhas as Raghava, Saif Ali Khan as Ravana , Kriti Sanon as Janaki and Sunny Singh as Lakshmana. Directed by Om Raut, the film will be released in theatres on January 12, 2023 in IMAX and 3D.
