The untimely death of singer Shaan in Kolkata, following a performance at Nazrul Manch sent shockwaves across the country. Now, singer Shaan has revealed that following the death of his fellow industry colleague, he received numerous messages from people urging him to take care of his health. For the unversed, KK died on the night of May 31, shortly after performing at a college fest in Kolkata.
As per several reports, doctors ho had performed KK's autopsy had revealed the singer died of several heart blockages and could have been saved if cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) was performed on time. According to the doctors, KK suffered from prolonged cardiac problems that remained unaddressed.
In an interaction with Bollywood Hungama, Shaan revealed his children Soham Mukherjee and Shubh Mukherjee, whom he shares with his wife Radhika Mukherjee, also insisted he gets a check-up following the harrowing incident.
He said, "Not just for the artist, but also for the people attending, whenever the audience has more than 300-400 people, accidents can happen. You take so many permissions, and it's expensive to put up a show. To have an ambulance there is part of the procedure."
According to the singer, every event company has to provide these things, but over the years, complacency creep in. He added, "We have done many shows where they have been stampedes. But at that point you get very excited-- there is a live audience in front of you, what tantrum would you do at that point. And you do the show. KK wouldn't take more than eight shows a month no matter how much money you offer. He was very careful. And something like this to happen to someone who has always been very cautious and not desperate...it's crazy. "
Shaan added that it was frustrating and that his children went on to insist he get a checkup post KK's incident.
"My children were also insisting, so I especially went to Mumbai for a day and had a heart check-up. I would like to tell this to everyone, especially if you are post 40, you should not take a chance and get a checkup done every two years," he said.
