Dasoju Sravan, who recently resigned from Congress, joins BJP

New Delhi: Dasoju Sravan, who recently resigned from Congress, joined Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the presence of Union minister G Kishan Reddy on Sunday. Sravan had resigned from the grand old party on Friday. This was the second resignation from the party in a week. Earlier on Tuesday, senior Congress leader and MLA Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy had resigned from the party.
Former spokesperson of the party, Sravan had alleged chaos within the Congress under the direction of state unit chief Revanth Reddy. Speaking to news agency ANI, he said Reddy was working against fundamental principles of the Congress party and the value system of democracy and social justice. "He's running the party as per his whims and fancy," Sravan said, adding that Reddy was showing disregard toward backward classes, demonstrating upper-class hegemony.
"Because of Reddy, Congress pushed to a position where they cannot fight the dictatorial rule of (Telangana CM) KCR. I thus resign with resentment," the former Congress leader said after resigning from the party. He also said that he was worried about the future of the party under the current leadership in the state.
Sravan said he had been fighting on behalf of the Congress party as a spokesperson against the TRS with the hope to dethrone KCR, "but unfortunately because of tyrannical tendencies, dictatorial tendencies of Revanth Reddy, the Congress has pushed itself in the position where they cannot fight with KCR and TRS party". He said he tried to speak to Rahul Gandhi and Jairam Ramesh but unfortunately they were also helpless.
The BJP has been expanding its footprint in Telangana and Sravan's induction may further strengthen the party in its fight against KCR.
