The Indian players are enjoying a purple patch in the ongoing county season. Cheteshwar Pujara was the first player who landed in England for the county season and his dream run for Sussex saw him making his India comeback. Umesh Yadav recently made his county debut and hogged the limelight.
On Tuesday (July 19), young all-rounder Washington Sundar made his Lancashire debut and took a five-for. He has been joined by another Indian to take a five-for on debut.
Navdeep Saini, who made his debut for Kent, has taken a five-for against Warwickshire. The right-arm pacer is playing alongside New Zealand pacer Matt Henry. Saini got Kent their 3rd breakthrough by dismissing Chris Benjamin.
He went on to dismiss Dan Mousley, Michael Burgess, Henry Brookes and Craig Miles to complete his five-for. Courtesy of his five-for, the Will Rhodes-led side is reeling at 206/9. Henry has dismissed 2 batsmen.
Saini had travelled to England as a net bowler with Team India and played in the warm-up match between Leicestershire and India. Recently, Kent announced signing the Indian pacer and he is scheduled to play 3 red-ball matches and 5 Royal London One-Day matches. The Royal London One-Day will be played in August.
Saini has been out of the national side for a year now and performances in county cricket can see him make his return.
Krunal Pandya set to land in England soon
Out-of-favour India all-rounder Krunal Pandya will soon join the list of cricketers to play county cricket in the ongoing season. Pandya recently signed with Warwickshire and will play Royal London One-Day Cup for them.
Pujara scores a century while leading Sussex
In another update, Pujara has scored a century while leading Sussex at Lord's. The right-handed batsman was given the top job in Tom Haines' absence. Pujara is still batting and will eye his 2nd double-century of the season. He is also scheduled to play white-ball matches for Sussex.
