Congress' Bharat Jodo Yatra posters featuring Savarkar face flak from BJP; covered up with image of Mahatma Gandhi

The Congress has claimed that it was a printing mistake, contending that it had wanted to use the pictures of freedom fighters and made an error. Workers at the booth level said that they had taken the picture from the internet and made a mistake in cross-checking it.

Ernakulam: As the Congress undertakes its pan-India Bharat Jodo Yatra, posters of Veer Savarkar have surfaced in Kerala's Aluva area. The Congress has claimed that it was a printing mistake, attempting to cover it up with a picture of Mahatma Gandhi. The incident has also prompted the BJP to lash out at the Opposition party and senior leader Rahul Gandhi.
"Veer Savarkar’s pictures adorn Congress’s Bharat Jodo Yatra in Ernakulum (near airport). Although belated, good realisation for Rahul Gandhi, whose great grandfather Nehru, signed a mercy petition, pleaded the British to allow him to flee from Punjab’s Nabha jail in just two weeks (sic)," tweeted BP IT Cell Chief Amit Malviya.
"Oops! It seems all attempts by Rahul to obfuscate history did not work! Veer Savarkar against whom Rahul has been spewing lies was exposed when his Bharat Jodo Yatra in Aluva, Ernakulam carried posters of Veer Savarkar! Later on they tried to cover it up! Savarkar Zindabad...Rahul ji, no matter how much you try… history and truth comes out. Savarkar was Veer! Those who hide are the kaayars," added BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla.
The Congress has claimed that it was a printing mistake, contending that it had wanted to use the pictures of freedom fighters and made an error. Workers at the booth level said that they had taken the picture from the internet and made a mistake in cross-checking it. Once it was noticed, the local workers had tried to cover it with the picture of Gandhi. Later the poster was removed from the place.
The incident was first flagged on social media by independent MLA PV Anwar who is supported by the LDF. He had shared a video on Facebook, noting that the boards kept in Aluva's Chengamanadu had featured a photo of VD Savarkar.
