Director Raj Mehta's Jugjugg Jeeyo is hitting screens across the country on June 24. The film which has Varun Dhawan and Kiara Advani in the lead, also has a stellar cast including Anil Kapoor, Neetu Kapoor, Tisca Chopra and Parjakta Koli. Apart from these powerhouse of talents, Jugjugg Jeeyo boasts of another talented star - funnyman, anchor and actor Maniesh Paul.
Maniesh plays the role of Gurmeet who does not really believe in the institution of marriage. He is Varun's best friend and Kiara's brother in the film. As such, the actor also got to share the screen with veritable legends Anil Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor in this family drama. And Maniesh is super excited. Not only does he get to work in a strong scripted film, but also gets to act with Anil Kapoor – a man whose film tickets he would buy as a youngster.
Now in an exclusive interaction with Times Now Digital, Maniesh has opened up on his experience working Anil Kapoor, the very first scene he did with the actor and why he was pinching himself despite getting almost slapped by Anil Kapoor.

“For me, a guy from Delhi, who used to actually go and buy tickets to watch their films, specially Anil Kapoor. I was pinching myself,” confesses Maniesh, adding, “I was asking myself, ‘Maniesh is this actually happening? You are sharing not the stage, but the screen with him.’ It has been wonderful and a great learning experience.”
Not only that, Maniesh also opened up on doing the very first scene with the iconic actor.
“I remember that once I had come to Mumbai when my nani used to stay there. I had gone to Metro theatre to watch Ram Lakhan. The moment I started doing a scene with him, that was the first thing which clicked in my head. ‘I still remember watching Ram Lakhan and today I am getting to do a scene with him,’” the actor recalls.
“That is the first scene, where he gets irritated with me and he is about to slap me -and we had such a good time,” he states.
Talking about the experience working with Anil Kapoor in Jugjugg Jeeyo, Maniesh adds, “He is one actor who teaches you a lot. He is never preachy. He will give you some very nice tips and move out. The kind of legend he is, he can actually throw his weight around and can tell you what to do and what not to do, but he never throws his weight around. He is so cool and calm with everyone on sets.”
Not only Anil, Maniesh Paul had an amazing time working with everyone on the sets of Jugjugg Jeeyo, right from director Raj Mehta, to producer Karan Johar and even Varun Dhawan, who Maniesh says is the “most secure actor of the generation.”
Ask him, while he says everything was good on sets, did he not have any difficulty?
“I feel koi toh thode tantrum deta, humare paas story toh hoti dene ke liye. Hum sab ek doosre ke baare mein accha hi bole jaa rahe hai,” the actor signs off with a laugh.
