Jammu: In a major manhunt launched by the Jammu and Kashmir Police, the accused involved in the murder case of DG Prison Hemant Lohia has been apprehended. Police said that the interrogation of the accused has also started. Earlier today the Jammu and Kashmir Police identified the main accused in the Lohia murder case after he was seen running away from the site in a CCTV footage. Lohiya was found dead under suspicious circumstances at a house in the Udaywala area of Jammu.
While the police are still investigating the matter, the CCTV footage obtained from the site showed that the suspect - Yasir Ahmed ran away from the crime spot. According to sources quoted by news agency ANI, Ahmed, the house help was working at Lohia's residence for nearly six months. Earlier today, police also said that Ahmed was 'aggressive in nature' and was reportedly under 'depression'.
While ruling out the terror angle in Lohia's death, Mukesh Singh, Additional Director General of Police, Jammu said that the weapon of offence was recovered from the site along with documentary evidence proving Ahmed's mental state.
"In the initial investigation into the incident of Lohia's death, it has come to fore that one domestic helper Yasir Ahmed, resident of Ramban is the main accused," Singh said.
Jammu and Kashmir DGP Dilbag Singh said that Lohia was staying at his friend's residence for the past few days. Meanwhile, as reported earlier by Times Now, terror outfit The Resistance Front has taken responsibility for Lohia's alleged murder.
