Cristiano Ronaldo returned to Manchester United in 2021, in what poliwas touted as a big boost for the club. In fact, Ronaldo has scored 24 goals across all competitions for the Red Devils, thus emerging as their top goalscorer, even at 37 years old. However, the club had a horrific season, finishing sixth in the Premier League. Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was sacked mid-season and replaced by Ralf Rangnick in the interim.
Now, reports have emerged that Cristiano Ronaldo is unhappy with he transfer window situation of the Red Devils, having failed to bring in a single player till now. Hence, he wants a move out of the club, to play for a club that plays in the UEFA Champions League. He has even not reported for training under new manager Erik ten Hag, citing personal reasons.
Here are three clubs that can sign Cristiano Ronaldo given the current situation:
Napoli
Napoli had a sort of resurgence last year in the Serie A in 2021-22, as they finished third in the league table after Luciano Spaletti replaced Genaro Gattuso as head coach at the start of the season. They have now returned to the Champions League after a two-year absence.
However, one of the key cogs to the wheel of Spaletti's side was striker Lorenzo Insigne. Unfortunately, the Italian forward secured a transfer at the end of last season, in a surprise move to Major League Soccer (MLS) side Toronto FC. With Napoli playing the Champions League after two seasons, they need a star forward who can score goals with ease in both the league and in Europe. Who better to do this than Cristiano Ronaldo, as he can perfectly fill the void Insigne has left.
Bayern Munich
Cristiano Ronaldo has scored goals and won titles in the Premier League with Manchester United, the La Liga with Real Madrid and Serie A with Juventus. The only place of the traditional big four leagues that CR7 hasn't conquered in the German Bundesliga. The kings of the league are undoubtedly Bayern Munich who have won the Bundesliga a record 32 times. So a match between Cristiano Ronaldo and Bayern Munich seems to be made in heaven.
In addition, the rumour mills have been rife surrounding the exit of Bayern's main man, Robert Lewandowski. It has been heavily reported that he want to leave the club for Barcelona. So, someone of equal or greater stature should replace him if he leaves. Cristiano Ronaldo easily steps into the role. Also, a forward partnership between new signing Sadio Mane and Ronaldo will be a sight to behold.
Chelsea
The club that has been mostly linked to Cristiano Ronaldo has been Manchester United's Premier League rivals Chelsea. Reportedly, new Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly and Ronaldo's agent Jorge Mendes have held talks regarding the 37-year-old's move to the London-based club.
The only missing link in Thomas Tuchel's system is a striker upfront who can score goals. When the German manager arrived at the club in mid-2020/21 season, there was no proper striker. In the summer of 2021, Chelsea broke the bank to sign Romelu Lukaku for a club-record fee, but he too failed miserably at the club. He now has left the club on loan at Inter Milan, leaving the Blues in need of a new striker. Who better than to fill the gap with regular goals than Cristiano Ronaldo. He can take Tuchel's side to the next level and earn him his first Premier League trophy.
