Bollywood films haven't had the best of year as far as box office success is concerned. The Kashmir Files, Gangubai Kathiawadi and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 are some of the films that make the cut as for the list of successful films this year are concerned. The conversation around Bollywood going through a tough phase has been going on for a while now, and the latest to speak up on the same is actress Alia Bhatt.
Alia, when asked about the ongoing tough phase of Bollywood said how she thinks it has been a tough year for Indian cinema and that we should just be a little kind to Hindi films.
She went on to say, "We say it is tough for Bollywood but are we really counting the overall number of films that have done well this year? Even in the South Indian film industry, all their films have not worked. Similarly, some of the films, starting with my film this year, Gangubai Kathiawadi, have done very well. A good film will always do well."
Further, while talking about the same at Express Adda, Alia Bhatt said how she thinks the lens right now is really hard on cinema in general because we’re coming back post-pandemic. The actress also added that theatres were shut for almost two years and good content will always do well but now, we’re just reassessing what are the kinds of films that we are going to screen at theatres or on an OTT platform and what is the general consumer habit.
Bhatt also highlighted how none of this means that Hindi cinema is over.
Meanwhile, Alia is currently enjoying the success of her Netflix release Darlings. The movie has managed to top multiple charts on the streaming platform. Next up, she is gearing up for Brahmasta, where she will be seen sharing screen space with Ranbir Kapoor for the first time.
