Actor-turned-politician Shatrughan Sinha had come out in support of Kamaal Rashid Khan after the latter was arrested over his derogatory tweets in September. Sinha, in his tweet, called KRK a self-made man, adding that he has made his place in the film industry on his own.
Over a month later, the veteran actor has opened up about the backlash he received for his tweet. Sinha, in an interview with ETimes, said that people said nasty things about him and his daughter Sonakshi Sinha.
"People said nasty things about me as well as about Sonakshi. I was not talking about his mistakes. We can fight his opinions with our opinions. We don’t have a personal enmity with him. Just because certain stars are against him everyone is against him. But will anyone support him for the way he or many people have been picked up? I think this is a little extreme," he has been quoted saying.
Sinha further asked who is "all innocent" in the industry, adding that all the wrongdoings of the stars haven't gone unnoticed. "We as an industry being a family, sometimes ignore that. That’s a different thing," he further told the publication.
Last month, Sinha had shared a series of tweets to seek justice for KRK. "One should not forget that Kamal Rashid Khan @kamaalrkhan and one should always remember that despite great opposition and struggle the ‘KRK’ is a self made man, he has the blessings of the Almighty. He has made his place in the film industry, as well as society on his own," read his tweet. In another tweet, Sinha said that KRK's biggest asset is his confidence, adding that he "seems to speak without any fear or favour."
"He doesn’t shudder to speak his mind against all odds as he has the conviction & freedom of opinion/speech of any kind, within the framework of law/constitution, even if not accepted. He seems to be a victim of conspiracy of circumstances. God Bless him! Hope, wish & pray that Kamal Rashid Khan gets justice which he deserves soon, sooner the better. Jai Hind!" read a part of his tweet.
Sinha's tweets had come after KRK was sent to 14-day judicial custody in connection with his tweets on late actors Irrfan Khan and Rishi Kapoor.
