Alia Bhatt refutes reports of Ranbir Kapoor flying to the UK to pick her up: ‘I am a woman not a parcel’

Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor, one of Bollywood’s most adored couples, are more than thrilled to be embracing parenthood in the coming months. Taking to Instagram, Alia on Monday, June 27, announced that she and Ranbir are expecting their first child.

While congratulations were in order for the newlyweds after the big announcement, soon several reports started surfacing on how pregnancy will impact Alia’s career.

It was reported that Alia, who is currently in the United Kingdom for the shooting of her Hollywood debut Heart Of Stone, will take some time off after coming back to India. There was another speculation about Ranbir flying to London to bring Alia home.

"Alia is busy shooting for her Hollywood debut film, Heart Of Stone, in the UK (United Kingdom). Ranbir might be flying all the way to the UK to bring home his beloved wife Alia. After mid-July, Alia will be taking a rest," a media report stated earlier.

Putting an end to all the rumours for once and for all, Alia on Tuesday, June 28, shared a powerful message via Instagram stories. Citing a media report, the Gangubai Kathiawadi actor slammed the ‘patriarchal’ mentality and took a sarcastic dig at those spreading such conjectures.

Setting the record straight, Alia wrote, “Meanwhile, we still live in some peoples heads… we still live in some patriarchal world .. fyi . Nothing has gotten delayed!!!!! No one needs to PICK anyone up… I am a women not a parcel!!!!”

Further, denying the reports of her taking some time off from work, she said, “I do not need to REST at all but good to know you’ll have a doctors certification as well.”

“This is 2022. Can we pls get out of this archaic way of thinking! Now if you would excuse me .. my shot is ready,” concluded the mother-to-be.
