Punjab: Dera Bassi police arrest 2; recover 1392 banned tablets

Police have arrested two persons and recovered 1,392 capsules of Spasmo Proxyvon Plus, a banned drug from their posession. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. The accused had been primarily targetting daily-wage labourers. and people in and around the area.
Dera Bassi: Police have arrested two persons and recovered 1,392 capsules of Spasmo Proxyvon Plus, a banned drug from their posession. The accused had been selling them to the people in and around Dera Bassi town, primarily targetting daily-wage labourers, as reported by the Indian Express.
The arrested accused were identified as Jalaz Sharma and Narinder Singh. Police sources have said that a team which was led by Sub-Inspector (SI) Barinder Singh had been on patrolling duty when they noticed the accused moving in a suspicious manner. The stopped him and found the tablets upon checking. A case was registered under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, as reported by the Indian Express.
In a similar incident last month, an inter-state pharmaceutical drug cartel was busted by making a seizure of over seven lakh pharma opiods, claimed the Punjab police. The recovery was made during a raid at an illegal godown in Saharanpur district of Uttar Pradesh. The police have arrested the main supplier.
As per a report published in The Indian Express, the police have identified the main supplier as Ashish Vishkarma. Vishkarma is a resident of Khalasi Line near ITC in Saharanpur, as told by Ropar Range DIG Gurpreet Singh Bhullar.
For the last five years, Vishkarma had been illegally supplying these opioid pharmaceutical drugs to several districts of Punjab including SAS Nagar, Fatehgarh Sahib, Rupnagar, SBS Nagar, Ludhiana and Patiala, said DIG Bhullar.
He further said that the police have recovered the following items from the godown:
4.98 lakh tablets of Lomotil
97,200 tablets of Alprazolam
75,840 capsules of Proxyvon
21,600 vials of Avil
16,725 injections of Buprenorphine
550 tablets of Tramadol
